Born in France in 1984,
Charlotte Bovy lives and works in Paris.
Working from personal photographs, archives, texts and moving images, she approaches her practice as a process of transformation, returning repeatedly to the same material until its original form begins to shift. Through montage, she seeks less to document reality than to observe what happens to it once it becomes an image.
After studying theatre and completing a Master's in Comparative Literature, she turned to photography. Her work has been presented at several festivals — including Planches Contact, PhotoSaintGermain and Les Mesnographies (Réseau LUX) — as well as in solo and group exhibitions in Paris, London and Menorca. In 2020, she received the Photo4food Foundation grant for her series Les Vieux Normands. In 2022, she exhibited at the LA Art Show. Her works are held in private and public collections, including the collection of Les Franciscaines in Deauville. In 2024, she published her first artist’s book, Solastalgia, with Aivazian Editions.
